Sticks are in the bag, the practice pad is put away, and when I get over inertia, the e-kit goes back in the box. The wallpaper that read "Slow Down. Do It Again" has been replaced by a photo of wildflowers on the side of the road. Nice while it lasted, but I'm done.
If there's one thing I wish I'd understood before beginning drum lessons at age 66, it was this: "Don't aim for mastery -- aim for curiosity." I've been enjoying myself ever since.
