I don't feel like I play any better than I did at the beginning of March, but there were two bits of progress during the month. (1) Learned a four-beat groove named "16th Note Backbeat Swing," and learned something more about learning. Still can't play it ghost-notes-and-all at the instructor's 90 BPM, but I can play it at a slower speed, or at full speed if I leave out a weak-hand snare tap here and there.
(2) Tried once more to understand all that was going on in the transcribed sheet music for Rikki, and saw some things that started to make sense, and others that I could leave out for now. Playing entire songs isn't high on my list; I'd rather get better at bite-sized rudiments, which are a quick hit of accomplishment when I get them.
