I'm getting closer to the "get it right" plateau and can see the "can't get it wrong" level from there. I like the video posted by Drumset Fundamentals. Can't play it at the 120 BPM level, but when I slowed it down to 50%, I felt I could do better and sped it up.
After feeling overwhelmed by all the beats, grooves, and fills being thrown at me, I'm focusing on just a few and trying to get them nailed down. Some basic rock beats, this bossa nova, and for fun, slowly working my way up to a half-time shuffle. But can't get ahead of myself; I've still only been doing this for a year and a half. One small bite at a time...
